RoboCop Box office nears £120 million and sequel talks begin

Last year, there were debates about the pros and cons of bringing RoboCop back to life in a modern interpretation of Paul Verhoeven's 1987 action classic. With no winner decided it is no surprise that audience reactions to the movie were also pretty polarized, with some members of the public enjoying the remake and other complaining about the lack of proper focus on a villain or conflict. Well I hope you are ready to dredge up those feelings again, as a remake is inching its way towards £120 million ($200million) worldwide box office, which is usually the time when sequel talks begin.

Currently RoboCop has brought in over £81 million internationally, making its worldwide gross somewhere around £112 million. It has done marginally well in countries such as here in the UK and in Russia, but China leads with RoboCop taking in over £35 million. According to BoxOfficeMojo, that is more than the U.S,Croatia and Malaysia combined. With China's growing power in cinema it is no surprise that we could see a sequel being funded by China.
