Thomas Kretschmann to play Villain in Avengers 2 and Agent 47

The German actor Thomas Kretschmann, who has recently been cast as the evil Baron Wolfgang von Strucker in Marvel's The Avengers: Age of Ultron, will also get to play another villain role in Agent 47, the sequel to the 2007 Hitman.

The movie is based on the popular video game series and sees Homeland's Rupert Friend as the Agent 47. Agent 47 is basically a bald headed badass who travels around the world killing people in a stealthy fashion. The role was originally intended for the late Paul Walker.

Thomas Kretschmann will join Zachary Quinto on the evil side of the table, playing Le Clerq, who is the chairman of an organization known as the Syndicate International, which is set on creating an army of unstoppable agents.

Thomas Kretchmann is already a big name here in the UK with his hit releases like Stalingrad breaking all sorts of records. But also from his appearance in as Abraham Van Helsing in NBC's Dracula series.

Agent 47 is currently being filmed in Berlin.
